कामाक्षी देवीच्या मूर्ती तसेच चित्रांमध्ये,तिच्या हातामध्ये किंवा तिच्या दोन्ही बाजूला ऊस दाखवलेला आहे.भारतीय पुराणांमध्ये ऊस हा प्रेम,कामवासना आणि मोह(Love Lust Desire ) यांचे प्रतीक म्हणून वापरलेला आहे. आपल्याकडे प्रणयाचा देव हा कामदेव आहे असे समजले जात असले तरी ती भावना निर्माण करणारी देवी म्हणून तिच्या हातात उसाचे प्रतीक दाखवले असण्याची शक्यता आहे.

आजच्या काळात मात्र, रोजच्या न्यूजपेपरमध्ये स्त्रियांवर होणाऱ्या अत्याचाराच्या बातम्या वाचायला मिळतात. काही महिन्यांच्या बाळा पासून ते वृद्ध महिलांपर्यंत होणारे अत्याचार बघून डोकं सुन्न होतं. आणि म्हणूनच प्रेम,कामवासना आणि मोह यांचे प्रतीक म्हणून देवी च्या हातात किंवा बाजूला असलेल्या उसाच्या क्रुसावरच आजची स्त्री लटकलेली आहे अशी भावना माझ्या मनात निर्माण झाली. आणि तीच भावना या फोटो मधून व्यक्त करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे.

In the drawings or the sculpture of Goddess Kamakshi, we often see sugarcane in her hands or at her sides. According to Indian Mythology, sugarcane is the symbol of Love,Lust & Desire.

Even though we have a understanding that the Kamdev is the God of Love, still the feeling is generated by the Goddess, hence there might be the possibility of the use of sugarcane as symbol.

In today’s world, we constantly see, read or hear the news of sexual harassment on women.

These sexual harassment are done regardless of the age of the woman, or girl.

And for that reason, the sugarcane which is the symbolize the Love, Lust & Desire, which is usually seen in the hands of Goddess, I feel it is the Cruse for todays women.
